Removing and Replacing the Back Covers in HP Pavilion All-in-One and HP Omni 200-5000 Series Desktop PCs

This document applies to HP Pavilion All-in-One 200-5000 series all-in-one desktop computers.

Before you begin

Turn off the computer, and disconnect all cables. Be sure to disconnect the network cable before disconnecting the power cord.
Transfer the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a noncarpeted floor. Place the computer face-down on a soft flatsurface. HP recommends that you place the computer ona blanket, towel, or other soft cloth toprotect the touch screen surface fromscratches or other damage.
Do not remove a component from the protective packaging until you are ready to install it.

Make sure the computer is disconnected from power before starting.

This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Remove the hinge door to access the internal components. This door is above the stand in the center of the computer.

Removing the hinge door

Use the following steps to remove the hinge door.

Step 1 To remove the hinge door, use your fingers or a flat head screwdriver to pry the cover off.
Step 2 Lift the hinge door off and away from the computer.

Replacing the hinge door

Use the following steps to replace the hinge door:

Step 1 Find the two small notches on the hinge door.
Step 2 Find the metal rails inside the computer.
Step 3 Align the notches on the hinge door with metal rails on the back of the computer.
Step 4 Press down until the door snaps into place.

Removing and replacing the hard drive door

Remove the hard drive door to access the hard drive and most internal components. This door is on the left side of the computer as you face the back of the unit.

Use these steps to remove the hard drive door:

Step 1 To remove the hard drive door, first remove the hinge door.
Step 2 Slide the hard drive door to the side.
Step 3 Pull the door off the computer.

Replacing the hard drive door

Use the following steps to replace the hard drive door:

Step 1 Find the three tabs on the hard drive door.
Step 2 Find the three slots on the back of the computer.
Step 3 Align the tabs on the door with the slots on the back of the computer.
Step 4 Slide the panel into place.
Step 5 Replace the hinge door.

Removing and replacing the RAM door

Remove the RAM door to replace the system memory and other system components.

Use the following steps to remove the RAM door:

Step 1 To remove the RAM door, first remove the hinge door.
Step 2 Slide the RAM door out to the side.
Step 3 Remove the door from the computer.

Replacing the RAM door

Use the following steps to replace the RAM door:

Step 1 Find the two tabs on the left side of the RAM door.
Step 2 On the right side of the computer, find the slots for the RAM door.
Step 3 Align the tabs on the RAM door with the slots inside the computer.
Step 4 Push in the RAM door until secure.
Step 5 Replace the hinge door.

Removing and replacing the postponement door

Remove the postponement door to access the internal components.

Removing the postponement door

Use the following steps to remove the postponement door:

Step 1 To remove the postponement door, first remove the hinge door, the hard drive door, and the RAM door.
Step 2 Remove the three screws for the postponement door.
Step 3 Lift up the bottom of the door.
Step 4 Carefully pry the cover off of the unit.

Replacing the postponement door

Use the following steps to replace the postponement door:

Step 1 Find the tabs at the top edge of the postponement door.
Step 2 Find the slots for the door in the top of the rear panel.
Step 3 Find the small tab on the side of the cover.
Step 4 Find the slot on the side of the computer.
Step 5 Align the tabs on the top of the door with the slots under the top lip on the computer.
Step 6 Swing the cover down.
Step 7 Press the side tab into its slot.
Step 8 Replace the three screws that secure the cover to the computer.
Step 9 Replace the hard drive door, the RAM door, and the hinge door.

Removing and replacing the rear I/O cover

To access many system components, remove the rear I/O cover.

Removing the rear I/O cover

Use the following steps to remove the rear I/O cover:

Step 1 To remove the rear I/O cover, first remove the hinge door, the hard drive door, the RAM door, and the postponement door.
Step 2 Remove the two screws for the rear I/O cover.
Step 3 Lift up on the I/O cover.
Step 4 Pull the I/O cover out of the computer.

Replacing the rear I/O cover

Use the following steps to replace the rear I/O cover:

Step 1 Find the tabs on the bottom of the rear I/O cover.
Step 2 Find the slots inside the I/O area of the computer.
Step 3 To replace the rear I/O cover, slide the tabs under the lip inside the I/O area.
Step 4 Press on the cover until it snaps into place.
Step 5 Replace the postponement door, the hard drive door, the RAM door, and hinge door.

Removing and replacing the rear cover

To access many system components, remove the rear cover.

Removing the rear cover

Use the following steps to remove the rear cover:

Step 1 To remove the rear cover, you must remove the stand. To remove the stand, first remove the hinge door above the stand.
Step 2 Remove the four screws that fasten the stand to the computer. opmerking: The screws for the stand are a special long screw.
Step 3 Slide the stand up.
Step 4 Tilt the stand up and remove it from the computer.
Step 5 Remove the hard drive door, the RAM door, the postponement door, and the rear I/O cover, as shown in the other sections of this document.
Step 6 To remove the CD/DVD drive, remove the screw securing the drive to the computer. opmerking: The screw for the CD/DVD drive is a special long screw.
Step 7 Use the access hole to push the CD/DVD drive out to the side.
Step 8 Pull the CD/DVD drive out of the computer.
Step 9 Remove the two screws at the top of the rear cover. opmerking: You will need a slender screwdriver to access the top screws.
Step 10 Remove the screw at the side of the unit.
Step 11 Pry up on the top edge of the rear cover.
Step 12 Remove the cover from the computer.

Replacing the rear cover

Use the following steps to replace the rear cover:

Step 1 Find the tabs along the outer edge of the cover...
...that fit under the outer lip of the front bezel.
Step 2 To replace the rear cover, align the cover onto the computer.
Step 3 Press down firmly on the cover until all of the tabs have snapped into place.
Step 4 Replace the CD/DVD drive by sliding the drive into the computer.
Step 5 Align the screw hole at the edge of the drive with the screw hole inside the computer.
Step 6 Replace the special long screw that secures the CD/DVD drive in the computer.
Step 7 Replace the screw on the side of the computer.
Step 8 Replace the two screws at the top of the computer.
Step 9 Replace the rear I/O cover, the postponement door, the RAM door, and the hard drive door, as shown in the other sections of this document.
Step 10 Next, replace the stand. Find the long slot in the middle of the stand.
Step 11 Find the tab for the stand inside the computer.
Step 12 To replace the stand, align the middle slot over the tab...
... and slide the stand down until the tab is at the top edge of the slot and the stand is secure.
Step 13 Replace the four screws that secure the stand to the computer. Use the same four screws that were removed previously.
Step 14 Replace the hinge door.
