HP LaserJet Enterprise, HP PageWide Enterprise - Installing a printer driver with an Ethernet cable (macOS)

Learn how to install the printer driver (software) in macOS using a wired (Ethernet) connection.

Step one: Connect the printer to the wired network

Connect the network cable to the printer and to the network. Wait a few minutes for the printer to acquire a network address.

Step two: Obtain the printer's IP address

Use the printer control panel to obtain the printer's IP address that you will need during software installation.

Example IP address: 192.168.0.1

Note:

The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

Find your printer control-panel type in the options below and then follow the instructions to obtain the IP address.

Step three: Install the printer driver

Follow these steps to download and install the printer driver.

Note:

The printer model referenced in this video might be different from your printer model, but the steps are the same.

  1. Go to 123.hp.com.

  2. Enter your printer model number.

  3. Click Install HP Easy Start to install the HP Easy Start utility.

    The computer downloads HP Easy Start.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to launch HP Easy Start and install the printer software.
