HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M725 - Removal and replacement: Fuser
This document provides the procedures to remove and replace the fuser assembly.
Mean time to repair: 5 minutes
Service level: Basic
Before performing service
Turn the printer power off.
  • Disconnect the power cable.
      warning:
    To avoid damage to the printer, turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, and then remove the power cable before attempting to service the printer.

Required tools
  • #2 Phillips screwdriver with a magnetic tip.
After performing service
Turn the printer power on
  • Connect the power cable.
  • Use the power switch to turn the power on.
Post service test
Make sure that the printer initializes to a Ready state.
Print a configuration page to make sure that the printer is functioning correctly.
  1. Remove the left door.
    1. Remove the duplex unit or the duplex cover.
    2. Open the left door, and then lift up on the retainer arm (callout 1) to release it from the door assembly (callout 2).

    3. Pull the left side of the assembly (callout 1) away from the product, release the pin on the right side of the assembly, and then remove the door assembly.

  2. Remove the duplexer or duplex cover.
    • Remove the duplexer.
        note:
      If the product is equipped with a duplexer, complete the following steps.
      1. At the left side of the product, pull out the duplexer until it stops.

      2. Lift up the duplexer and slightly pull it toward you to remove it.

    • Remove the duplexer cover.
        note:
      If the product does not have a duplexer, complete the following steps.
      1. On the left side of the product, place a finger in the notch (callout 1) at the bottom of the cover.

      2. Pull the cover (callout 1) in the direction indicated to remove it from the product.

  3. Remove the fuser.
    1. Turn the two latches (callout 1) in the direction indicated, and then pull the fuser (callout 2) straight out to remove it from the product.
        note:
      On the right side latch, you must reach behind the fuser door retainer to gain access to the latch.

  4. Unpack the replacement assembly.
    1. Dispose of the defective part.
        note:
      HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective part.
    2. Unpack the replacement part from the packaging.
        caution:
      If the replacement part is a roller or pad, avoid touching the spongy part of it. Skin oils on the roller or pad can cause paper pickup and/or print-quality problems. HP recommends using disposable gloves when handling rollers or pads or washing your hands or before touching rollers or pads.
        note:
      Make sure that all of the shipping materials (for example shipping tape) are removed from the replacement part prior to installation.
  5. Replace the fuser.
    1. Push the fuser (callout 1) straight into the product, and then turn the two latches (callout 2) in the direction indicated.
        note:
      On the right side latch, you must reach behind the fuser door retainer to gain access to the latch.

  6. Replace the duplexer or duplex cover.
    • Replace the duplexer.
        note:
      If the product is equipped with a duplexer, complete the following step:
      1. At the left side of the product, push the duplexer into the product until it stops.

    • Replace the duplexer cover.
        note:
      If the product does not have a duplexer, complete the following step:
      1. Install the cover (callout 1) in the direction indicated.

  7. Replace the left door.
    1. Attach the pin on the right side of the assembly, and then rotate the left side of the assembly (callout 1) into the product.

    2. Lower the retainer arm (callout 1) onto the door assembly, and then close the left door (callout 2).
