Introduction
Replacing ink cartridges
Follow these steps to replace and align the ink cartridge.
Step one: Replace the old ink cartridge

Make sure the product is turned on.

Open the output tray, and then open the cartridge door.

Lightly press down on the ink cartridge to release it and pull it out.

Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.

Pull the pink tab to remove the clear tape from the ink cartridge.Figure : Removing the tape from a cartridge
caution:
Be careful not to touch the ink nozzles or copper contacts.Figure : Copper contacts -
Hold the ink cartridge with the label facing up and the copper contacts facing the product.

Insert the ink cartridge into the carriage and push it in until it snaps into place.Figure : Installing the ink cartridge

Close the cartridge door.
Step two: Align the new ink cartridge
Once the new ink cartridge is installed, the product automatically aligns the cartridge and prints an alignment page. If the alignment page does not print automatically, follow these steps to manually align the ink cartridge.
note:The ink cartridge can be aligned at other times to ensure optimal print quality.

Press the menu button (
) on the product control panel.

Use the arrow buttons (
) to highlight Tools, and then press the print button (
).

Use the arrow buttons (
) to highlight Align Print Cartridges.

Press the print button (
) to begin aligning the cartridge.

Follow the prompts on the product control panel display to print the alignment page.Figure : Alignment pageThe check marks indicate that the ink cartridge is installed correctly and functioning properly.

If an "X" is displayed next to any of the bars, align the ink cartridge again.

If the "X" is still displayed, replace the ink cartridge.
