HP Notebook PCs - Peer to Peer Drive Backup Process Fails

DESCRIPTION
This document applies to HP Notebook PCs with Microsoft Windows Vista
Performing an entire drive back up in a peer to peer environment from one notebook PC to another, the backup process fails.

SCOPE
The specific notebook PCs affected by this issue are listed in the Hardware Platforms Affected section at the bottom of this advisory.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, perform the following on both notebook PCs:
  1. Connect the AC Power Adapter to each notebook PC and connect to an external power source.
  2. Click Start, type power in the Search Field.
  3. Select Power options and then select High Performance. This prevents the notebook PC from entering Hibernation/Standby Mode.
