HP 1503, 1703, 1905, f1503, f1703, f1905 Flat Panel Monitors - Screen Is Blank after Starting the PC, or Power Adapter Connector Appears to be Missing

This document pertains to HP 1503, 1703, 1905, f1503, f1703, f1905 Flat Panel displays.
One of three symptoms may occur when you initially set up the flat panel monitor:
  • The monitor power adapter connection appears to be missing.
  • The speaker power adapter appears to be missing.
  • After connecting your computer to the flat panel monitor and start the computer, no image appears on the screen. The initial HP or Compaq logo screen may appear but then goes away without any other picture appearing on the screen.
One of the following messages (or similar) may also appear on the screen before the picture is lost:
  • Check Cable.
  • Check Connection.
  • No Signal.
There are several reasons this could happen. Use this document to isolate and resolve the problem. Turn on the computer and complete the following steps:

Step 1: Check cable connections

If you can see the initial HP or Compaq logo screen but later lose the picture, you can skip to Step 2.
Otherwise, check the video cable connection on the back of the computer and on the monitor. Make sure that it is connected properly and the connecting screws are tight. Turn the monitor off and then back on again (while the computer is on) to see if an image appears.
Some Flat Panel monitors have two similar power input connections placed side-by-side on the back of the monitor, which sometimes allows them to get confused for one another. One connector is used to supply power to the speakers with a separate power cord, while the other connector is used for the monitor's power adapter.
Ensure that you have the monitor power adapter cord plugged into the power connector and not the speaker connector.
After you have reconnected the power cord, turn on the monitor (while the computer is on) to see if an image appears. If there is still no image, continue to the next Step.
    Figura : Power connections
  1. Power connection for audio speakers
  2. Power connection for the monitor

Step 2: Resetting the monitor

At first setup, or under certain signal conditions, the monitor may not be able to switch to a new display resolution. Do NOT shut down or restart the computer. Instead, perform the following steps:
  1. Turn off the monitor using the Power button on the front.
  2. If the Power button does not respond, unplug the power cord from the back of monitor and wait five seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in.
You should see the image from the computer on the screen. If not, continue to the next Step.

Step 3: Further steps

Use the following items to help troubleshoot this problem further, based on the condition of the power light on the front of the monitor:
  • If the power light on the monitor comes on but the screen is still blank, refer to the support document Computer Starts but Monitor Remains Blank for more troubleshooting steps that relate to all monitors.
  • If the power light stays off, the power supply or the monitor may be bad. For more help and information Contact HP (in English).
