HP LaserJet Enterprise, HP PageWide Enterprise - Installing a printer driver with an Ethernet cable (macOS)
Learn how to install the printer driver (software) in macOS using a wired (Ethernet) connection.
Step one: Connect the printer to the wired network
Connect the network cable to the printer and to the network. Wait a few minutes for the printer to acquire a network address.
Step two: Obtain the printer's IP address
Use the printer control panel to obtain the printer's IP address that you will need during software installation.
Example IP address: 192.168.0.1
The steps vary according to the type of control panel.

Find your printer control-panel type in the options below and then follow the instructions to obtain the IP address.
FutureSmart 3
Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 3 control panel:

Keypad control panels: View the control-panel display to see the IP address.

Touchscreen control panels: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Network icon
to display the IP address or host name.
If an IP address is listed, the network connection has been established. If an IP address is not listed, wait a few more minutes and try again. Make note of the IP address for use during software installation.
FutureSmart 4
Follow these steps if your printer has a FutureSmart 4 control panel:

Keypad control panels: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, press the Information button
, then use the arrow keys to select the Ethernet menu. Press the OK button to open the menu and view the IP address or host name.

Touchscreen control panels: From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Information icon
, and then touch the Network icon
to display the IP address or host name.
If an IP address is listed, the network connection has been established. If an IP address is not listed, wait a few more minutes and try again. Make note of the IP address for use during software installation.
Step three: Install the printer driver
Follow these steps to download and install the printer driver.
