Replace a top hard drive

Replace the top hard drive, secure it in the hard drive tray, and then insert it in the enclosure on top of the computer.

  1. Inspect the hard drive tray to confirm that each hole contains a rubber grommet. If there are any holes without grommets, replace the missing grommets.

  2. Remove the replacement hard drive from its packaging.

  3. Insert the replacement hard drive in the tray, making sure to align the holes on the hard drive to the holes on the tray.

  4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to secure the hard drive with the screws you set aside.

  5. Insert the hard drive in the enclosure, and then lock the hard drive into place.

  6. Close the hard drive access door on the top of the computer.
