HP OfficeJet 6900 Printers - Loading Paper, Cards, Envelopes

This document is for HP OfficeJet 6950, 6951, 6954, 6956, 6958, 6962, OfficeJet Pro 6960, 6968, 6970, 6974, 6975, and 6978 All-in-One printers.

Your printer can print on plain or specialty paper. Load plain paper, legal size paper, envelopes, or index cards in the printer's input tray.

Load plain paper

Load plain paper into the input tray.

Lift the output tray, and then pull the input tray toward you to open it.
Slide the paper-width guide to its outermost position.
Load a stack of plain paper into the input tray.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the paper tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.
Push the stack into the tray until it stops.
Slide the paper-width guide until it rests against the edges of the paper.
Push the input tray forward until it snaps into place, and then lower the output tray.

note:
After loading paper, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Load legal-size paper into the input tray.

note:
This step is for HP OfficeJet 6960 and OfficeJet Pro 6960, 6970 printers.

Lift the output tray, and then pull the input tray toward you to open it.
Slide the paper-width guide to its outermost position.
Push the tab on the paper tray to the right, and then open the front door on the input tray.
Load a stack of legal paper into the paper tray.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the paper tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.
Push the stack into the tray until it stops.
Slide the paper-width guide until it rests against the edges of the paper.
Push the input tray forward until it snaps into place, and then lower the output tray.

note:
After loading paper, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Load blank envelopes into the input tray.

Lift the output tray, and then pull the input tray toward you to open it.
Slide the paper-width guide to its outermost position.
Remove all the paper from the input tray, and then load envelopes with the print-side down. Determine which type of envelope you have, and then position the envelope as shown.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the paper tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.
Make sure to align the stack of envelopes with the appropriate paper size lines on the bottom of the input tray. Do not load more than 10 envelopes at a time or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide the paper-width guide until it rests against the stack.
Push the input tray forward until it snaps into place, and then lower the output tray.

note:
After loading paper, make sure to select the correct paper size and paper type settings when printing or copying.

Load specialty sized photo paper, panorama photo paper, or postcards like Hagaki into the input tray.

Lift the output tray, and then pull the input tray toward you to open it.
Slide the paper-width guide to its outermost position.
Insert the paper or card print side down in portrait orientation, and then load them in the center of the input tray.

caution:
To avoid printing issues, never load multiple types of paper in the paper tray or attempt to load paper while the printer is printing.
Make sure the paper or card is aligned. Do not load more than 60 cards/photos or exceed maximum stack height.
Slide the paper-width guide until it rests against the stack.
Push the input tray forward until it snaps into place, and then lower the output tray.
