HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M651, M680, M855 and M880 Series - 99.09.64, 99.09.65, 99.09.66 and 99.09.69 Errors

Issue:
One of the following errors is displayed on the printer's control panel or in Embedded Wed Server (EWS).
  • 99.09.64 Disk nonfunctional
    A fatal disk failure has occurred.
  • 99.09.65 Disk data error
    Disk data corruption has occurred.
  • 99.09.66 No boot disk
    A disk drive is not installed in the printer.
    • a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) is not installed.
    • a hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) is not connected properly.
    • the hard disk drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) has failed.
  • 99.09.69 Unknown error
    An Unknown boot disk error has occurred.
Solution
  1. Turn the printer off and then back on to clear the error message.
  2. If the message persists, verify that the hard disk drive, or the solid state drive, is installed correctly and all connections are secure by removing and reinstalling the hard disk drive cables.
Instructions for checking if the hard disk drive is installed correctly:
  caution:
Electrostatic sensitive device. Always perform service work at an ESD-protected workstation or mat, or use an ESD strap. If an ESD workstation, mat, or strap is not available, ground yourself by touching the sheet-metal chassis before touching an ESD-sensitive part.
  1. Do the following:
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Disconnect all external cables and accessories attached to the formatter.
    3. Disconnect the power cable.
  2. Loosen the formatter screws.

  3. Remove the formatter.

  4. Disconnect the two hard disk drive connectors from the formatter.

  5. Disconnect the cable from the hard disk drive

  6. Reattach the cable to the hard disk drive. Ensure that it is properly connected and fully seated.

  7. Connect the two hard disk drive connectors to the formatter.

  8. Insert the formatter into the printer.

  9. Tighten the formatter screws

  10. Turn the printer on.
  11. If the error persists, the disk drive needs to be replaced. Contact HP technical support.
