HP Tablets - Viewing Notification Details and Changing Quick Settings for HP Slate 7 VoiceTab Ultra, HP Slate 8 Plus, and HP Slate 10 Plus

This document applies to HP Slate 7 VoiceTab Ultra, HP Slate 8 Plus, and HP Slate 10 Plus tablets with the Emotion user interface.
The notification panel drops down from the top left corner of the tablet screen, and shows you details about any notifications that appear in the status bar at the top of the tablet screen, allowing you to quickly access further information about the notification.
The Quick Settings menu drops down from the top right corner of the tablet screen, and provides easy access to a number of commonly-accessed settings options, such as screen brightness and Wi-Fi settings.
Use the information in this document to familiarize yourself with the notification panel, the Quick Settings menu, and their respective functions.
  note:
Depending on the version of Android installed on your tablet, some of the images in this document may not match your tablet exactly.
Viewing notifications on your HP tablet
The notification panel displays details about any notifications that appear at the top of the tablet screen. For example, when you receive an email in your Google email account, a mail notification icon displays in the top left corner of the screen. Displaying the notification panel while you are in an app, for example, does not disrupt or close the app. When you expand the notification panel, it displays the email subject line and sender. You can then go directly to the email by touching the notification.
The notification panel can be expanded on top of any screen without disrupting any current processes open on the tablet. However, if you use the HP unlock method to lock the screen, to view and open notifications from the Lock screen, you must enable that setting. Use the following steps to view and open notifications from the Lock screen.
  1. On the Home screen, touch the Settings icon.
  2. In the Privacy and Security section, touch Security, and then touch the button to select it to allow the notification panel to be opened from the HP unlock screen.
