HP LaserJet Enterprise M712, HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M725 - Replace the Product Maintenance Kit

Introduction
Before beginning
  • Use the table below to identify the correct kit part number for the product, and then go to www.hp.com/buy/parts to order the kit.

    CF249A: 110V

    CF254A: 220V
    Maintenance kit with instruction guide (220V)
Required tools
  • #2 phillips screwdriver with a magnetic tip and a 152-mm (6-inch) shaft length.
  caution:
Always use a Phillips screwdriver. Do not use a pozidrive screwdriver or any motorized screwdriver. These can damage screws or screw threads.
Kit contents
Before Product Maintenance
  1. Turn off the product.
  2. Disconnect the power cord.
  warning:
To avoid damage to the product, turn the product off, wait five seconds, and then remove the power cord before attempting to service the product.
Replace the Tray 1 Separation Pad Assembly
  note:

Step 1 - Remove the Tray 1 separation pad assembly
  1. Make sure the product is off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Open the Tray 1 door.
  3. Release two hinge pins on the cover assembly.
  4. Lift the paper guide and locate the separation pad assembly.
  5. Remove the screw on the separation pad assembly.
      note:
    Use a magnetized screwdriver to prevent the separation pad assembly screw from falling into the product while removing the screw.
  6. Remove the separation pad assembly.
      note:
    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective separation pad assembly.
Step 2 - Unpack the Tray 1 separation pad assembly
Unpack the Tray 1 separation pad assembly from the packaging.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling.

Step 3 - Install the Tray 1 separation pad assembly
  1. Install the separation pad assembly.
  2. Replace the screw.
  3. Secure the two latches on the cover assembly.
  4. Close the door.
Replace the Tray 1 Roller
  note:

Step 1 - Remove the Tray 1 pickup roller
  1. Make sure the product is off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Open the toner cartridge door.
  3. Push out on the pickup roller holder tabs (callout 1), and remove the pickup roller (callout 2).
      note:
    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective roller.
Step 2 - Unpack the replacement Tray 1 pickup roller
  caution:
Do not touch the surface of the replacement rollers. Skin oils deposited on the rollers might cause paper pickup problems.
Unpack the replacement Tray 1 pickup roller from the packaging.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling.

Step 3 - Install the replacement Tray 1 pickup roller
  1. Align the roller.
  2. Rotate the roller into position (callout 1). Snap the roller into place (callout 2).
Replace the Transfer Roller
  caution:
When handling the replacement assemblies, do not touch the shiny black surface of the ITB or the sponge surface of the transfer roller. Skin oils might cause image quality problems.

Step 1 - Remove the transfer roller
  1. Make sure the product is off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Remove the toner cartridge.
  3. Locate the transfer roller.
  4. On the right end of the roller, pull up on the tab to loosen the roller.
  5. Lift the transfer roller from the right end to remove it from the product.
      note:
    Ensure the bushing on the left side of the transfer roller does not fall off the roller during removal.
      note:
    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective transfer roller.
Step 2- Unpack the replacement transfer roller
Unpack the replacement transfer roller from the packaging.

Step 3 - Install the replacement transfer roller
  1. Insert the left end of the transfer roller into the product (callout 1).
  2. Lower the right end of the transfer roller into position (callout 2).
  3. Snap the right end of the transfer roller into place (callout 3).
  4. Remove the protective material from the transfer roller (callout 4).
  5. Replace the toner cartridge (callout 1) and close the toner cartridge door (callout 2).
Replace the Fuser
  warning:
The fuser might be hot. HP recommends waiting 30 minutes after turning off the product power to let the fuser cool.

Step 1 - Remove the fuser
  warning:
The fuser might be hot.
  1. Make sure the product is off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. HP recommends waiting 30 minutes after turning off the product power to let the fuser cool.
  3. Remove the duplexer. If there is no duplexer, remove the duplexer cover.
  4. Open the left door.
  5. Lift up on the retainer arm (callout 1) to release it from the door assembly (callout 2).
  6. Remove the door assembly.
  7. Turn the two latches in the direction indicated (callout 1), and then pull the fuser straight out to remove it from the product (callout 2).
      note:
    Reach behind the fuser door retainer to gain access to the right side latch.
Step 2 - Unpack the replacement fuser
Unpack the replacement fuser from the packaging.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling.
  note:
HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective fuser.
Step 3 - Install the replacement fuser
  1. Install the replacement fuser (callout 1), and then turn the two latches in the direction indicated (callout 2).
  2. Replace the fuser door.
  3. Close the door.
  4. Replace the duplexer. If there is no duplexer, replace the duplexer cover.
Replace Tray 2 and Tray 3 Pickup Rollers
  note:

Step 1 - Remove the rollers
  1. Make sure the product is off and the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Remove Tray 2 and Tray 3 from the product.
  3. Locate the Tray 2 and Tray 3 pickup rollers inside the tray cavity. Rotate the stoppers down, and then push the pickup rollers to the right to remove them.
      note:
    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective roller.
Step 2 - Unpack the replacement rollers
  caution:
Do not touch the surface of the replacement rollers. Skin oils deposited on the rollers might cause paper pickup problems.
Unpack the replacement Tray 2 and Tray 3 rollers from the packaging.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling.

Step 3 - Install the replacement rollers
  1. Install the Tray 2 and Tray 3 pickup rollers.
  2. Secure the latch.
Replace the Tray 2 and Tray 3 Separation Rollers

Step 1 - Remove the separation rollers
  1. Remove the screws.
  2. Remove the separation roller assemblies.
      note:

Step 2 - Unpack the replacement separation rollers
Unpack the replacement separation rollers from the packaging.

Step 3 - Install the replacement separation rollers
  1. Slide the replacement separation roller assemblies into position.
  2. Replace the screws.
  3. Reinstall the paper trays.
Replace Tray 4-6 Rollers (500–sheet trays)
  note:

Step 1 - Remove the rollers
  1. Remove the trays from the product.
  2. Locate the rollers on the right-hand side of the tray cavity.
  3. Release the tabs, and then pull the rollers in the direction indicated.
      note:

Step 2 - Unpack the replacement rollers
Unpack the replacement rollers from the packaging.
  caution:
When handling the replacement roller, do not touch the sponge surface of the roller. Skin oils might cause image quality problems.
If your part requires return or recycling, go to Product return and recycling.
Step 3 - Install the replacement rollers
  1. Position the rollers and snap them into place.
      note:
    Make sure that the rollers snap into place.
  2. Reinstall the paper trays.
Replace HCI Tray Rollers
  note:

Step 1 - Remove the rollers
  1. Open the high capacity trays.
  2. Remove the paper.
  3. Lower the tray release levers.
  4. Remove the trays.
  5. Locate the rollers in the tray cavity.
  6. Release the tab and pull the roller in the direction of the arrow (callout 1). Repeat this step for the second roller (callout 2).
  7.   note:
    HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective rollers.
Step 2 - Unpack the replacement rollers
  note:
The maintenance kit has 6 rollers. Only 2 rollers are needed for each HCI tray.
Unpack the replacement rollers from the packaging.
  caution:
When handling the replacement roller, do not touch the sponge surface of the roller. Skin oils might cause image quality problems.

Step 3 - Install the replacement rollers
  1. Position the rollers and snap them into place.
      note:
    Make sure the rollers snap into place.
  2. Reinstall the HCI trays.
  3. Replace the paper in the HCI trays..
Complete the Maintenance Procedure
  1. Connect the power cord
  2. Turn the product on.
  3. For the HP Laserjet 700 M712: At the product control panel, press the Home button. Select Administration > Manage Supplies > Reset Supplies > New Maintenance Kit > Yes > ..
  4. for the HP LaserJet Enterprise 700 MFP M725: From the Home screen on the product control panel, scroll to and touch Administration > Manage Supplies > Reset Supplies > New Maintenance Kit > Yes > Save > .
