DESCRIPTION
The HP ProtectTools 8.0 Drive Encryption pre-boot authentication screen continues to appear after an F11 recovery, although Drive Encryption appears as disabled in the HP ProtectTools Security Manager.

RESOLUTION
The authentication screen will accept the original password and encryption key to access the computer.
If Pre-Boot Security was enabled when Drive Encryption was activated, complete the following procedure to disable the pre-boot authentication:
  1. Re-install HP ProtectTools 8.0.
  2. Open the HP ProtectTools Administrative Console.
  3. In the left pane, expand Security. Select Features.
  4. In the right pane, uncheck Pre-Boot Security. Click Next.
  5. Click Finish.
If Pre-Boot Security was not enabled when Drive Encryption was activated, complete the following procedure to disable the pre-boot authentication:
  1. Re-install Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools 8.0.
  2. Open the HP ProtectTools Administration Console.
  3. In the left pane, expand Security. Select Features.
  4. In the right pane, check Drive Encryption. Click Next. Follow the prompts to activate Drive Encryption.
  5. Restart the computer.
  6. Open the HP ProtectTools Administration Console.
  7. In the left pane, expand Security. Select Features.
  8. In the right pane, uncheck DriveEncryption. Click Next. Follow the prompts to deactivate Drive Encryption.
