HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower PC - Removing and Replacing the Power Supply

Introduction
This document applies to the HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower PC.
Before you begin
  • A Torx-15 screwdriver is required for this procedure.
  • Turn off the computer, and then disconnect all cables. Disconnect the Ethernet or modem cable before disconnecting the power cord.
  • Move the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
  • Do not remove a component from its protective packaging until you are ready to install it.
  warning:
The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer.
  caution:
This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Removing the power supply
Perform the following to remove the power supply:

Review the following safety considerations before performing the following steps. Failure to comply with these safety considerations could result in damage to the product.
Step 1
Remove the side panel.
Remove the side panel.
Step 2
Remove the front fan assembly.
Remove the front fan.
Step 3
Disconnect the power cables from the system board, noting their location for reinstallation.
Disconnect the cables.
Step 4
Remove the four Torx-15 screws that secure the power supply to the back of the chassis.
Remove the screws.
Step 5
Press the release latch on the chassis pan and slide the power supply away from the back of the computer.
Release the latch.
Step 6
Lift the power supply out of the computer.
Remove the power supply.
Replacing the power supply
Perform the following to replace the power supply:
Step 1
Align the power supply with the guides on the computer.
Align the power supply.
Step 2
Slide the power supply to the back of the computer.
Replace the power supply.
Step 3
Replace the four Torx-15 screws that secure the power supply to the back of the computer.
Replace the screws.
Step 4
Connect the power cables to the system board.
Replace the cables.
Step 5
Replace the front fan assembly.
Replace the front fan.
Step 6
Replace the side panel.
Replace the side panel.
