HP Designjet 30/70/90/100/111/110/130 Printer Series - Print Quality Issues Specific to Legacy (16 Bit) Applications

This document describes how to fix print quality issues that occur only with legacy (16 bit) applications.
How to find if an application is a 16-bit application:
  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Windows Task Manager when the application or program is running.
  2. On the Processes tab, look in the Image Name column for the name of the program's executable file; if any 16-bit programs are running, you'll find an entry for Ntvdm.exe, the virtual DOS machine.
  3. Just above it in the list, you'll see indented entries for Wowexec.exe (the Windows on Windows subsystem) and the executable name of each 16-bit program running in that virtual machine.
To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
  1. Open the print window in the application.
  2. Open the printing preferences window and click on the last tab 'Services'.
  3. Click on the image next to 'Troubleshooting menu'.
  4. In the 'Troubleshooting' window, place a check on 'Compatibility with 16-bit applications'.
  5. Click OK on Troubleshooting and then OK the Printing Preferences window and print from the application.
