HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Power Button Board

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Power Button Board for the HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook PC.

Minimum skill level

The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

Tools required

Small, Phillips-head P0 screwdriver.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the Power Button Board that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

Power Button Board removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Remove the 3 mm P0 Phillips-head screw that secures the power button board to the bottom of the switch cover.
  3. Slide the power button board out from under the two plastic tabs on the switch cover and remove the power button board from the switch cover.
  4. Place the power button board in a static dissipative bag.

Power Button Board replacement

  1. Remove the power button board from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Toe the power button board under the two plastic tabs on the switch cover and lower it into position on the switch cover.
  3. Replace the 3 mm P0 Phillips-head screw that secures the power button board to the bottom of the switch cover.
