HP Notebook PCs - Notebook PC Cannot Record Through Audio-In Line Port of the HP USB Docking Station When Docked

DESCRIPTION
The audio in-line ports do not work on the Notebook PC or HP USB docking station when the dock is attached.
  note:
The default for Windows Vista is to use the Microphone instead of the Line-in port.

SCOPE
The specific notebook PCs affected by this issue are listed in the Hardware Platforms Affected section at the bottom of this advisory.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, please perform the following:
  1. Go to the Control Panel, select Hardware and Sound
  2. Under Sound select Manage Audio Devices
  3. Select Recording tab
  4. Select Line In and click Set Default
  5. Click OK
The Line-in port can now be used for recording.
