HP Notebook PCs - Steps for Removing and Replacing the Hard Drive

This document provides instructions for the removal and replacement of the battery for the HP Compaq 2510p series notebook PCs.
Use the video as a guide while following the written instructions below.
To view the video press the Play button on the player control bar below the video.
To stop the video press the Pause button on the player control bar below the video.
To restart the video press the Rewind button on the player control bar below the video.

Step 1 - Remove the battery
  1. Slide the battery release latch to the release position.
  2. Slide and hold the battery locking latch to the unlocked position.
  3. Slide the battery out of the battery bay.
Step 2 - Remove the hard disk drive
  1. Loosen the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive cover to the bottom of the notebook.
  2. Use your finger or a flat-bladed tool to lift the inside edge of the hard disk drive cover and remove it.
  3. Loosen the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive bracket to the base enclosure.
  4. Remove the hard disk drive bracket.
  5. Loosen the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive cable connector to the base enclosure.
  6. Lift the hard disk drive cable connector to disconnect it from the hard disk drive connector on the system board.
  7. Grasp the inside edge of the hard disk drive and slide it out of the base enclosure.
  8. Place the hard disk drive in a static dissipative bag.
Step 3 - Replace the hard disk drive
  1. Remove the hard disk drive from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Carefully slide the hard disk drive into position in the base enclosure.
  3. Place the hard disk drive bracket into position in the base enclosure.
  4. Tighten the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive bracket to the base enclosure.
  5. Align the hard disk drive cable connector with the hard disk drive connector on the system board.
  6. Press down on the hard disk drive cable connector to seat the connector.
  7. Tighten the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive cable connector to the base enclosure.
  8. Toe the hard disk drive cover into the enclosure.
  9. Tighten the two captive P0 Phillips-head screws.
Step 4 - Replace the battery
  1. Slide the battery into the battery bay until it is properly seated and the locking latch clicks.
