If the Admin chose to opt-out of connecting the printer to the HP Cloud during the initial printer setup, use the instructions in this document to connect the printer to the HP Cloud using the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Applicable printers

The information in this document applies to the following printer models:

Note:

This document does NOT apply to HP+ printer models as they require connecting the printer to the HP Cloud during initial printer setup.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 3001-3008dn/dw Printer series

  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101-3108fdn/fdw Printer series

  • HP LaserJet Pro 4001-4004n/dn/dw Printer series

  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101-4104dw/fdn/fdw Printer series

Requirements for accessing the EWS

To access the EWS, you will need the following information:

  • The printer's IP address

  • The Admin PIN (or the default PIN for the printer if the administrator has not changed it yet)

If you have the printer's IP address and the PIN, continue to the next section and follow the instructions to access the EWS.

If you do NOT have the printer's IP address or PIN, refer to the following document for instructions to obtain the IP address and/or the default PIN.

Access the EWS and connect the printer to the HP Cloud

Follow these steps to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) and connect the printer to the HP Cloud.

  1. Open the EWS:

    1. On your computer, open a Web browser, and in the address bar, type the printer's IP address.

    2. Press Enter on the computer keyboard.

      Note:

If the browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing the website will not harm the computer.

      The EWS opens.

      Note:

If the Admin PIN has never been changed from the default value, you will be prompted to enter the default PIN in the "Log In with PIN" dialog.

Enter the default PIN and then click Submit.

  2. On the EWS Home page, click Web Services on the top navigation bar.

    Note:

If the "Log In with PIN" dialog displays again, enter the PIN and click Submit.

The Web Services Settings Printer Pairing screen will display.

If the Pairing State shows a status of "Not paired," then the printer has not been connected to the cloud.
