To set up a printer for the first time, remove the printer and all packing materials from the box, connect the printer to a power source, download and install HP Smart or the printer software, connect the printer to a network, create an HP Account, and load paper.

Note:

If you are looking for the printer software, go to http://123.hp.com.

Step 2: Connect the power cord and turn on the printer

Plug the power cord into a wall outlet and turn on the printer.

Note:

Do not connect a USB cable at this time. The connection to the computer is established during the software installation. HP+ printers must be connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or wired). If you want to use a USB cable, connect your HP+ printer to internet first, and then connect the USB cable as secondary connection.

  1. Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

An HP account is required for HP+ printers, if you do not have an account, you can create one during the software installation process.

Step 4: Load paper, install the tray cover, and complete the setup
