HP Color LaserJet Pro M255 Printers - Replacement Printer Instructions

This document is for HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw and M255nw printers.
When HP replaces your defective product, some accessories or parts need to be transferred from the defective product to the replacement product.
note:
  • Some optional accessories might not be included with your product model.
  • Keep any optional accessories that you bought separately.
Before you send your defective printer to HP, make sure you remove the correct accessories to use with your new printer.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the toner access door.

  3. Grasp the blue handle on the toner cartridge drawer, and then pull out the drawer.

  4. Grasp the handle on the toner cartridge, and then pull the toner cartridge straight up to remove it.

  5. Repeat the previous step to remove the remaining toner cartridges.
  6. Keep the toner cartridges to use with the replacement printer.
  7. Push the toner cartridge drawer into the printer.
  8. Close the toner cartridge access door.

  9. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer, and then unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, surge protector, extension cable, or power strip.
  10. Keep the following accessories to use with the replacement printer, if applicable:
    • Power cord
      Image of Power cord
    • Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable
      Image of  Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable
    • Ethernet cable
      Image of  Ethernet cable
    • CDs
      Image of  Printer software CDs
    • Printer manuals
      Printer User Guide
    • Any accessories you purchased separately
  11. Connect the power cord to the rear of the replacement printer, and then plug it into a wall outlet.
  12. Turn on the replacement printer, install the toner cartridges, and then test all printer functions.
