Configure the default staple location

Configure the default staple location for documents. You can use the control panel to override the default setting for a particular job. The following options are available for the default staple location:
  • None: No staples
  • Top left or right: If the document has portrait orientation, the staple is in the top left corner of the short edge of the paper. If the document has landscape orientation, the staple is in the top right corner of the long edge of the paper.
  • Top left: The staple is in the top left corner of the short edge of the paper.
  • Top right: The staple is in the top right corner of the long edge of the paper.

  1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, scroll to and select the Administration button.
  2. Open the following menus:
    • Stapler/Stacker Settings
    • Stapling
  3. Select a staple location from the list of options, and then select the Save button.

Follow these steps to get the printer IP address, and then configure the default staple setting from the HP Embedded Web Server:
  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Information icon, and then touch the Network icon to display the IP address or host name.
  2. Open a web browser, and in the address line, type the IP address or host name exactly as it displays on the printer control panel. Press the Enter key on the computer keyboard. The EWS opens.

    note:
    If the web browser displays a message indicating that accessing the website might not be safe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm the computer.
  3. In the HP Embedded Web Server, select the Copy/Print tab, and then select Manage Stapler/Stacker in the left menu.
  4. Select the staple location from the Staple drop-down menu, and then select Apply.

Configure the operation mode

Use this procedure to configure how the product sorts jobs into the output bins. The following options are available:
  • Stacker: The product stacks jobs in the bins from bottom to top.
  • Mailbox: The product places jobs in different bins according to the person who sent them.
  • Function Separator: The product places jobs in different bins according to product function such as print jobs, copy jobs, or fax jobs.

  1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, scroll to and select the Administration button.
  2. Open the following menus:
    • Stapler/Stacker Settings
    • Operation Mode
  3. Select a mode from the list of options, and then select the Save button. The following options are available:

  2. Open the following menus:
    • Manage Stapler/Stacker
    • Operation Mode
  3. Select a mode from the list of options.

Select staple options (Windows)

  1. From the software program, select the Print option.
  2. Select the product, and then click the Properties or Preferences button.
  3. Click the Output tab.
  4. In the Output Options area, select an option from the Staple drop-down list. Click the OK button to close the dialog box.
  5. In the Print dialog box, click the OK button to print the job.

Select staple options (macOS)

  1. Click the File menu, and then click the Print option.
  2. In the Printer menu, select the product.
  3. Open the menus drop-down list or click Show Details, and then click the Finishing menu.
  4. Select a staple option from the Staple drop-down list.
  5. Click the Print button.
