DESCRIPTION
If an HP Z420, Z620, or Z820 workstation has an HP preinstalled Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate OS, the system may have the following error while enabling BitLocker with the "Initializing the TPM security hardware dialog".
"A required TPM measurement is missing. If there is a bootable CD or DVD in your computer, remove it, restart the computer, and turn on BitLocker again. If the problem persists, ensure the master boot record is up to date."

  • HP Preinstalled Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
RESOLUTION
Perform the following procedures to work around the issue.
NOTE
Prior to performing any recovery action be sure to back up all data. If the system includes one or more data hard drives, then you can disconnect the data drives to ensure they are not altered during the MBR repair.
  1. Reboot the system.
  2. Just before the Windows OS starts to boot begin pressing the F8 key. If you boot to the Windows OS, then you must reboot and try again. The system will boot to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
  3. Choose " Repair your computer" to boot to the Windows Recovery Environment.
  4. The " System Repair Options" menu will be displayed asking to select a keyboard
  5. After selecting keyboard choose " Next".
  6. Log on to the administrator account with the correct user name and password.
  7. The " System Repair Options" will display a list of options.
  8. Choose " Command Prompt".
  9. From the command prompt type " bootrec /fixmbr". The result should be "The operation completed successfully".
  10. Type " exit" to close the command prompt.
  11. Choose " Restart" and allow the system to boot normally.
