HP Pro 3330, 3340, 4300, 6300, and Elite 8300 Business PCs - Downgrade Problems from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro

Issue
Unable to Boot from the CD/DVD Drive.
Following is the error message while installing Windows 7 Professional from the HP Quick Restore CDs (SSRDs):
The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media.
Solution
To downgrade the Operating System from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro, please follow the steps below:
  note:
Before proceeding you should already have the recovery media disc set specific to your PC. If you do not have the recovery media disc set, call HP customer care to obtain it.
  caution:
The Windows 8 Pro product ID is required for Windows 7 Pro activation. Before proceeding to format Windows 8 Pro, be sure to obtain the Windows 8 Pro product ID.
To obtain the Windows 8 Pro product ID:
  • From the Windows 8 Start screen, press the Windows key + X. In the navigation menu on the left, click System.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen to view the product ID under the Windows Activation section. Copy down the 20 digit product ID.
  1. To install Windows 7 Pro, the Build ID must be changed. Perform the steps below to change the Build ID:
    1. Restart the PC.
    2. Press the ESC key during POST to access the Startup Menu. Optionally, press F10 during startup to access the BIOS directly.
    3. In the Startup Menu, choose the Computer Setup option.
    4. Press Ctrl + A then hit Enter.
    5. Navigate to Security then System IDs.
    6. The Build ID field should now be available. If you do not see the Build ID field, hit ESC to exit the System ID sub menu, then hit Ctrl + A and re-enter the System ID sub menu.
    7. Write down the #Sxxx#Dxxx from the Build ID. The xxx denotes the language code. For example, English would be #SABA#DABA.
    8. In the Build ID field insert the correct value. To find the correct value, edit the 1st CD. The Build ID is located at \HP\MLS\BUILDID.INI. Write it down. Example of a Build ID in that path would be 12WWIDDW3BF.INI. You can also open the file and see under Header the Build ID listed. Type this Build ID along with the #Sxxx#Dxxx from the previous step into the Build ID field. Hit F10 to accept. Example of what you would enter: 12WWIDDW301#SABA#DABA.
    9. Go to the File menu, then Save Changes and Exit. Go back to the F10 BIOS System IDs and verify the Build ID is changed.
  2. To boot from the CD/DVD drive, perform the steps below:
    1. Restart the PC.
    2. Press the ESC key during POST to access the Startup Menu. Optionally, press F10 during startup to access the BIOS directly.
    3. Go to the Security menu then to Secure Boot.
    4. Confirm the message by pressing F10.
    5. Set the second item Secure Boot to Disabled.
    6. Set the first item Legacy Support to On.
    7. Set the last item Fast Boot to Disabled. Validate by pressing F10.
    8. Go to the Storage menu then Boot Order.
    9. Select UEFI Boot Sources and press F5 to disable it. Validate by pressing F10.
        note:
Make sure Legacy Boot Sources is enabled and the ATAPI CD/DVD Drive is the first one in the list.
    10. Go to the File menu then select Save Changes and Exit.
    11. Insert the first HP Quick Restore CD.
    12. Press F9 to access to the Boot menu then select ATAPI CD/DVD Drive.
  note:
In order to activate Windows 7 Professional after installation, you may need to contact Microsoft Support and provide the Windows 8 Product ID obtained earlier.
