HP Z620 Workstation - Removing and Replacing Second CPU Module Power Cable Assembly

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the second CPU module power cable assembly for the HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array Systems.
Summary of instructions
To view a video demonstrating the procedure for removing the second CPU module power cable assembly, click here to view the HP Services Media Library and then click on Remove/Replace videos. On the new window, select Second CPU module power cable assembly from the menu on the upper left hand side of the screen.

  note:
This video was developed using a pre-production version of the workstation. The chassis and parts shown might not exactly match the current production version, but the part removal and replacement steps are the same.
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to the product or loss of data.
  2. Push the retaining tab on the Second CPU module power connector and then slide the connector toward the back of the computer and push it through the opening in the chassis pan.
  3. Disconnect the Second CPU module power cable (R2) from the power supply.
  4. Remove the cable ties that secure the cable assembly to the right side of chassis taking note of their location and the cable routing for reinstallation.
  5. Thread the cable assembly out of the opening near the top of the chassis and remove.

  1. Thread the cable assembly into the opening near the top of the chassis.
  2. Push the Second CPU module power connector into the opening in the right side of the chassis and slide it toward the front of the chassis until it locks into place.
  3. Replace the cable ties that secure the cable assembly to the chassis.
      note:
    Ensure that the cables lay flat against the chassis and that the cable-tie locking heads are positioned to one side of the cable bundle so that they do not interfere with right side panel replacement.
  4. Connect the cable assembly to the power supply.
