HP Z620 Workstation - Removing and Replacing Second CPU Module

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the second CPU module for the HP Z620 Workstation.
Summary of instructions
To view a video demonstrating the procedure for removing the second CPU module, click here to view the HP Services Media Library and then click on Remove/Replace videos. On the new window, select Second CPU module from the menu on the upper left hand side of the screen.
Second CPU module removal
  note:
This video was developed using a pre-production version of the workstation. The chassis and parts shown might not exactly match the current production version, but the part removal and replacement steps are the same.
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to the product or loss of data.
  2. Press the two green touch points at the top of the Second CPU module to release the handles.
  3. Pull up on the handles to disengage the module from the connectors on the system board and then lift it straight out of the chassis.
Second CPU module replacement
  note:
If a second CPU module is being installed for the first time, remove the metal slot cover for PCIe slot 1 from the PCI bulkhead. Replace it with the riser guide bracket, which is included with the second CPU module kit.
  caution:
Ensure that there are no cables crossing the second CPU module power connector on the system board to avoid damaging the module connectors and preventing installation.
  1. Align the left and right edges of the Second CPU tray with the guide channels and lower the module into the chassis.
  2. Press down firmly on the handles until they lock into place and the module is fully seated.
