HP recommends that you secure your network with WPA or WPA2 wireless security, if your router and network devices support it.
  1. Locate the wireless configuration settings using the router’s configuration utility.
  2. Locate the router’s Authentication Type settings, and then change the Authentication type to Auto or Open.
  3. Click Save, and then close the configuration utility.

Step four: Connect to the wireless network

IMPORTANT: In addition to connecting your product to the network, you might need to re-establish other network devices that were previously on the network using the new network configuration.
Follow these steps to connect your product to the wireless network.
  1. From the home screen on the product control panel, touch the Wireless icon ().
  2. Touch Settings. A list of wireless options displays.
  3. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard. The Wireless Setup Wizard searches for networks, and then displays them in a list.
  4. Touch and then slide your finger up or down on the display until you locate your network name (SSID) in the list, and then touch your SSID to select it.
If the list of available networks does not include your network, follow these steps to add it manually.
    1. Touch and then slide your finger up or down on the display, and then select Enter New Network Name (SSID). A touch keypad displays.
    2. Enter your network name using the touch keypad, and then touch Done.
      note:
Make sure that you enter the exact uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.
    3. The product searches for, and then displays, the network. Touch OK to confirm.
      The Security menu displays.
    4. On the Security menu, touch Yes, my network uses WEP encryption or Yes, my network uses WPA encryption, based on your network setup.
If you are not using encryption, touch No, my network does not use encryption.
  5. If prompted, use the touch keypad to enter the WEP or WPA key, and then touch Done.
    note:
Make sure that you enter the exact uppercase (capital) and lowercase (small) letters. Otherwise, the wireless connection fails.
  6. Touch OK to confirm the network settings.
  7. Wait for the product to connect to the wireless network. A message displays on the control panel when the product has successfully connected the network.
