HP iPAQ 300 Travel Companion Series - Setting Up the Travel Companion

To set up your Travel Companion, you need to insert the battery and power on your device.
Follow these steps to install, remove, and charge the battery of your HP iPAQ 300 Travel Companion series device.

Installing and removing the battery

  1. Slide the back cover down and away from the device to remove the battery cover.

  2. Align the battery connectors on the battery with the housing pins in the battery compartment and insert the battery.
  3. Slide the battery cover until it clicks into place.

    note:
    Follow the steps mentioned above to remove the battery from the device.

Charging the battery

The battery provides power for the device to operate. The Travel Companion device comes with a mini-USB cable, which must be used to charge the device.
It takes approximately 2-4 hours to fully charge the battery when the device is off. While the device is in use it can take up to 8 to 10 hours to fully charge a battery that has been discharged.
Follow these steps to charge the battery:
  1. Insert the USB end of the mini-USB cable into the port on the AC adapter.
  2. Connect the AC adapter to an electrical outlet.

  3. Connect the mini-USB cable to the charging/communications port on the Travel Companion. The cable connector fits only one way. If the connector does not insert easily, turn it over.
    note:
    You can also charge the battery by connecting the device to a USB port on your computer using the mini-USB cable. You can only transfer data when charging through USB.
note:
Visit www.hp.com/support for the latest operating system enhancements and Content Manager updates. Please ensure that you have downloaded the softpaq and the Content Manager application on your device to enjoy all the navigational features on your HP iPAQ 300 Travel Companion.
With the decommissioning of www.ipaq.com the Content Manager will no longer have the ability to Share Trip Plans through the Web site.
