This document provides the procedure to install Tray 2 and the 500-sheet trays for the HP LaserJet Enterprise M604, M605, M606 models.

Press the Power button to turn off the printer.Figure : Turn off the printer

Disconnect the power cord. Also disconnect the USB or network cable (not shown).Figure : Disconnect the power cord

Remove the tray from the boxFigure : Remove the tray from the box

Open the tray and remove the packaging material. Slightly lift up the tray, and then pull it completely out of the tray cavity.
note:
HP recommends recycling packing materials whenever possible.Figure : Open the tray and then remove (and recycle) the packing materials -
Remove the tray number indicator cube from inside the front of the tray.Figure : Remove the tray number indicator cube

Turn the cube so that it displays the correct tray number, and then replace the indicator in the front of the trayIf there are multiple 500-sheet trays, make sure that the tray number indicator cubes display in a sequential order.Figure : Replace the tray number indicator

Adjust the paper-length guide by squeezing the adjustment latch and sliding the guide to the size of the paper being used.Figure : Adjust the paper-length guide

Adjust the paper-width guide by squeezing the adjustment latches and sliding the guide to the size of the paper being used.Figure : Adjust the paper-width guide

Load paper into the tray. Check the paper to verify the guides lightly touch the stack, but do not bend it.Figure : Load the paper

Verify the top of the stack is below the tray full indicator.
note:
To prevent jams, do not overfill the tray.Figure : Verify the stack is below the tray full indicator -
Lift the tray up slightly and install the back edge of the tray into the tray cavity. Lower the tray, and then slide it into the printer.Figure : Reinsert the tray

Close the tray.Figure : Close the tray

Place the tray on a stable surface.Figure : Place the tray on a stable surface

Place the printer on the tray. Use the alignment pins on top of the tray to position the printer.

Reconnect the power cable and the USB or network cable.Figure : Reconnect the cables

Press the Power button to turn on the printer.Figure : Turn on the printer

OS X: The list of installed options should automatically update during the first print job after installing the accessory. If not, perform the following steps:

From the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

Select Print & Scan (or Printers & Scanners).
-
Select the printer, select Options & Supplies, and then select Driver.

Manually configure the accessory.
Windows 8.0 and 8.1: When attaching the accessory after installing the printer software, perform the following steps:-
Scroll to the bottom-left corner of the screen, and right-click the window that displays.

Select Control Panel. Under Hardware and Sound, select View devices and printers.

Right-click the name of the printer, and then select Printer Properties.

Click the Device Settings tab.

Click the Installable Options section, if Automatic Configuration is present, select Update Now. If the Automatic Configuration option is not present, manually install the accessory by opening the appropriate category and selecting the accessory.
Windows XP, Windows Vista® and Windows 7: When attaching the accessory after installing the printer software, perform the following steps:-
Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the computer or network.

Open the Windows Start menu, and then click Devices and Printers (or Printers and Faxes for XP).

Right-click the name of the printer, and select Printer Properties (or Properties for XP).

Click the Device Settings tab.

Click the Installable Options section.

In the drop-down box next to Automatic Configuration, select Update Now.
