HP EliteBook 2760p Tablet PC - Removing and Replacing the Hard Disk Drive

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the hard disk drive for the HP EliteBook 2760p Tablet PC.

Minimum skill level

The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

Tools required

Small, Phillips-head P1 screwdriver

Hard disk drive removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
    Observe all precautions when removing and replacing components.
  2. Remove the 3-mm P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
  3. Loosen the captive P1 Phillips-head screw that secures the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
  4. Grasp the Mylar tab and slide the hard disk drive toward the front of the tablet to disconnect it from the system board.
  5. Lift the hard disk drive and carrier out of the base enclosure.
  6. Remove the four 3-mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the hard disk drive carrier to the hard disk drive.
  7. Lift and remove the hard disk drive from the hard disk drive carrier.
  8. Place the hard disk drive in a static dissipative bag.

Hard disk drive replacement

  1. Remove the hard disk drive from the static dissipative bag.
  2. Place the hard disk drive on to the hard disk drive carrier.
  3. Replace the four 3-mm P1 Phillips-head screws to secure the hard disk drive to the hard disk drive carrier.
  4. Place the hard disk drive into the hard disk drive bay.
  5. Grasp the Mylar tab and slide the hard drive toward the rear of the tablet until it is fully seated into its connector on the system board.
  6. Tighten the captive P1 Phillips-head screw to secure the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
  7. Replace the 3-mm P1 Phillips-head screw to secure the hard disk drive to the base enclosure.
