HP iPAQ Voice Messenger and HP iPAQ Data Messenger - Troubleshooting when the Unit Battery Drains Rapidly

Symptoms
The HP iPAQ Data Messenger and the HP iPAQ Voice Messenger devices battery may sometimes drain rapidly. This may occur due to various factors such as old ROM version, third-party applications running on the device, and the device usage.
Resolution
Perform the following troubleshooting steps when the device battery drains rapidly.
Step 1: Updating the device with latest ROM update
Make sure the latest ROM update is installed on the device. You can check the latest ROM updates for HP iPAQ Data Messenger and HP iPAQ Voice Messenger devices at www.hp.com/support.
Step 2: Uninstalling third-party applications
Uninstall any third-party applications that take up more battery power. To uninstall third-party applications on the device, follow these steps:

You can only remove programs that have been installed after purchase. You cannot remove the iPAQ default programs.
On HP iPAQ Voice Messenger:
  1. Press Start > Settings > Remove Programs.

  2. Select the program to remove.
  3. Press Menu > Remove.
On HP iPAQ Data Messenger:
  1. Tap Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs.

  2. Select the program to remove and tap Remove.
