HP iPAQ 900 Business Messenger Series - How to Set Up Email Account Using Microsoft Exchange Server and also Using Internet

Issue:
  • How can I set up a Microsoft Exchange Server email account?
  • How can I set up an Internet email account?
Solution
Setting up a Microsoft Exchange Server email account
Email using a Microsoft Outlook email account is sent and received through a Microsoft Exchange Server. You can synch email through a computer or wireless connection using ActiveSync or Windows Media Device Center.
To set up an email account that synchs with a Microsoft Exchange Server, do the following:
- Press the (Messaging) key -> Setup Email.
- Enter your email address in the Email address box, tap Next.
- Check the Try to get email settings automatically from the Internet check box.
- You may have to come back, and uncheck this, then manually configure the email settings if the set up program does not find your company settings.
- Tap Next.
- Scroll and select the Exchange server option from the Your email provider list.
- Tap Next.
- Tap Next to synchronize Microsoft Outlook with your organization's Microsoft Exchange email server.
- Verify your email address, tap Next.
- In the Server address box, enter the Microsoft Outlook Web Access server address, tap Next.
- Select This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection check box to send email using an SSL connection.
- Enter the user name, the password, and the domain.
- Tap Next.
- Select the check box for the items you want to synchronize, tap Finish.
Setting up an Internet email account
You must set up an email account that you have with an ISP or an account that you access using a VPN server connection (typically a work account), before you can send and receive email.
To create a new POP3 or IMAP4 account, do the following:
- Press the (Messaging) key -> Setup Email.
- Enter the account name, tap Next.
- Clear the Try to get email settings automatically from the Internet check box. You have to go back, and uncheck this, and manually enter the settings.
- Tap Next.
- Scroll, and select the Internet email option from the Your email provider list, and then tap Next.
- Enter your name and account name, then tap Next.
- Enter the incoming mail server name, and select account type -> POP3 or IMAP4.
