HP Compaq dc5750 Microtower PC - Removing and Replacing the Diskette drive

Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the Diskette drive for the HP Compaq dc5750 Microtower PC.
Minimum skill level
The End User requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The End user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the Diskette drive that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

Diskette drive removal
  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Disconnect the data and power cables from the drive.
  3. Pull out on the green drive release latch and slide the drive out of the drive bay.
      note:
    If the replacement drive does not include guide screws, remove and reuse the screws from this drive or use the spare screws provided on the front of the chassis behind the front bezel.
Diskette drive replacement
  1. Align the guide screws on the drive with the guide slots and slide the drive into the bay until it snaps into place.
  2. Connect the power and data cables to the drive.
