HP PCs - Where do I find Windows 11 drivers and software for my model?

For computers sold after October 2021 with compatible hardware, HP has tested and approved specific software and drivers to support Windows 11.

See HP Business PCs and Workstations tested with Windows 11 to check if your computer model was tested by HP.

If your computer is not tested by HP or the software and drivers are not available on the HP site for Windows 11, use Windows Update in Windows 11 to get the latest software and drivers. HP and any third-party hardware manufacturers of components in your computer release updated software and drivers in Windows Update when they are tested and approved.

Install updates in Windows 11

Find and install updated software and hardware drivers for your computer.

Run Windows Update

Update your Windows 11 or Windows 10 computer using Windows Update.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Check for updates.

    If there are any available updates, they begin automatically.

  2. After the updates install, restart your computer when prompted.

Can I use Device Manager to get updates?

Yes. If a specific hardware component is not working correctly, you can update it in Device Manager.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. In the list of devices, expand the component that you want to update.

  3. Right-click the device, and then click Update driver.

  4. Click Search automatically for drivers, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. Restart your computer to complete the installation.

Are there alternative drivers available?

Third-party forums and websites might suggest alternative driver solutions or workarounds. These might work with your PC, but are not supported by HP. Take precautions to protect your computer from viruses or malware before you install any driver or software from an external source.

Can I revert to my previous operating system?

If, after upgrading to Windows 11, you have decided that the experience does not meet your expectations, there are a few ways to revert to your previous operating system. Read each recovery option carefully before determining which to use, because the condition of your operating system and data might vary based on your selection.

Go back to a previous version of Windows from Windows 11

Use the Go Back feature in Windows 11 to restore Windows 10 on your computer.

Note:

The Go Back option is only available for ten days after the installation of Windows 11. If you perform a disc cleanup, refresh, or reset in Windows 11, you do not have the option to go back. If you have deleted the windows.old file from your computer, you do not have the option to go back. If your installation required an external USB flash drive, you must use the same drive to go back.

  1. Before you go back to a previous version of Windows, do the following:

    • Although your personal files should not be affected by going back, HP recommends that you back up all important data (personal files, photos, videos, documents, applications, software, and so on) prior to going back. This helps avoid any possibility of losing your important data.

    • If you used a different password with the previous Windows version on your computer, you might need your old password.

    • Keep your PC turned on and connected to AC power for the duration of the go back process.

    • After going back, you might need to reinstall some apps and programs, and reset any settings changes that were lost.

  2. In Windows, click Search, search for go back, and then click Go back to Windows 10.

  3. The Recovery window opens. Click Go back.

  4. On the Why are you going back? screen, select an answer, type any additional details into the Tell us more field (optional), and then click Next.

  5. On the Check for updates? screen, click No, thanks.

  6. Read the What you need to know screen, and then click Next.

  7. Windows reminds you that you need your old password, if applicable. Click Next.

  8. Click Go back to an earlier build.

  9. Wait while your system is restored to the previous version of Windows. Do not turn off or unplug the computer.

    When Go Back is complete, log in with the user account name and password from your previous version of Windows.

Perform a computer reset

If you are unable to revert to your previous operating system, you can perform a system reset to reinstall the operating system that came with your computer.
