HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP, HP PageWide Enterprise MFP - Copy or scan pages from books or other bound documents (FutureSmart 4)

All FutureSmart 4 firmware versions include book scanning in the Scan to Job Storage app. In FutureSmart firmware version 4.7 and newer, book scanning is available in additional scan apps. You can check your firmware version by viewing or printing a Configuration Page from the Reports app. If you have an older firmware version, upgrade your firmware to enable the expanded book scanning and other new features to maximize your printer’s capability. For instructions to upgrade your firmware, go to support.hp.com and enter your printer model in the search box. On the resulting product support home page, select How to, and then from the Select a topic drop-down menu, select Printer Setup, Installation & Updates. In the resulting topics list, select the firmware update topic for your printer.

Scan book to email (FutureSmart 4.7 and newer)

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Scan, and then select Scan to Email. (If prompted, enter your user name and password.)
Touch the To field to open a keyboard.
Specify the recipients by using one of these methods:
- Enter addresses manually
  
  Enter the address in the To field. To send to multiple addresses, separate the addresses with a semicolon, or select the Enter button on the touchscreen keyboard after typing each address.
- Enter addresses from the Contacts list
  1. Select the Contacts button that is next to the To field to open the Contacts screen.
  2. Select the appropriate contact list.
  3. Select a name or names from the list of contacts to add the name to the recipients list, and then select Add.
Complete the Subject, File Name, and Message fields by touching the field and using the touchscreen keyboard to enter information. Select the OK whenever you need to close the keyboard.
Select Options in the lower left corner, select Scan Mode, select Book, and then select Done.
Adjust any other settings in the Options list that are needed. Select Done for each setting if prompted.
Touch the right pane of the screen to preview. A Book Mode prompt screen appears.
Place the book face down on the glass, aligning it as shown on the control panel prompt. Gently lower the scanner lid.
Select the page scanning option, and then select Scan.
Lift the scanner lid, turn the page, and repeat the previous two steps to scan additional pages.
When you are finished scanning, select Done, and then select Send.

Scan book to network folder (FutureSmart 4.7 and newer)

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Scan, and then select Scan to Network Folder. (If prompted, enter your user name and password.)
Touch the File Name text field to open a touchscreen keyboard, type the name for the file, and then select the Enter button.
Specify a folder destination. Folder options must first be configured by the printer administrator.
- To select a folder location that the administrator already set up, select Load under Quick Sets and Defaults, select the folder, and then select Load.
- To specify a new folder location, touch the Folder Paths field to open a touchscreen keyboard, type the path to the folder, and then select the Enter button. Enter user credentials if prompted and then select Save to save the path.

  Use this format for the path: \\server\folder, where “server” is the name of the server that hosts the shared folder, and “folder” is the name of the shared folder. If the folder is nested inside other folders, complete all necessary segments of the path to reach the folder. For example: \\server\folder\folder

  The Folder Paths field might have a pre-defined path, and it might not be editable. In this situation, the administrator has configured this folder for common access.
Select Options in the lower left corner, select Scan Mode, select Book, and then select Done.
Adjust any other settings in the Options list that are needed. Select Done for each setting if prompted.
Touch the right pane of the screen to preview. A Book Mode prompt screen appears.
Place the book face down on the glass, aligning it as shown on the control panel prompt. Gently lower the scanner lid.
Select the page scanning option, and then select Scan.
Lift the scanner lid, turn the page, and repeat the previous two steps to scan additional pages.
When you are finished scanning, select Done, and then select Send.

Scan book to USB drive (FutureSmart 4.7 and newer)

Insert the USB drive into the USB port near the printer control panel.
From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Scan, and then select Scan to USB Drive. (If prompted, enter your user name and password.)
Select the USB drive under Destination, and then select the save location (either the root of the USB drive or an existing folder).
Touch the File Name text field to open a touchscreen keyboard, type the name for the file, and then select the Enter button.
Select Options in the lower left corner, select Scan Mode, select Book, and then select Done.
Adjust any other settings in the Options list that are needed. Select Done for each setting if prompted.
Touch the right pane of the screen to preview. A Book Mode prompt screen appears.
Place the book face down on the glass, aligning it as shown on the control panel prompt. Gently lower the scanner lid.
Select the page scanning option, and then select Scan.
Lift the scanner lid, turn the page, and repeat the previous two steps to scan additional pages.
When you are finished scanning, select Done, and then select Save.

Scan book to job storage (FutureSmart 4)

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Scan, and then select Scan to Job Storage. (If prompted, enter your user name and password.).
Select the default storage folder name shown under Folder, and then select the folder.
note:
If the printer administrator has configured the option, you can create a new folder. Follow these steps to create a new folder:
1. Select the New Folder icon.
2. Select the New Folder field, type the folder name, and then select OK.
Make sure that you have selected the correct folder.
Select the Job Name text field to open a touchscreen keyboard, type the name for the file, and then select the Enter button.
Select Options in the lower left corner, select Scan Mode, select Book, and then select Done.
Adjust any other settings in the Options list that are needed. Select Done for each setting if prompted.
Touch the right pane of the screen to preview. A Book Mode prompt screen appears.
Place the book face down on the glass, aligning it as shown on the control panel prompt. Gently lower the scanner lid.
Select the page scanning option, and then select Scan.
Lift the scanner lid, turn the page, and repeat the previous two steps to scan additional pages.
When you are finished scanning, select Done, and then select Save.

Scan book to SharePoint^® (FutureSmart 4.7 and newer)

Before you can scan to SharePoint, your printer administrator or IT department must use the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) to enable the feature and configure it, including adding a Quick Set. If the Scan to SharePoint feature is configured, follow these steps to send the scanned book to a SharePoint location.

From the Home screen on the printer control panel, select Scan, and then select Scan to SharePoint®. (If prompted, enter your user name and password.).
To select a Quick Set, touch Select under Quick Sets, select a Quick Set, and then select Load.
Select the File Name text field to open a touchscreen keyboard, type the name for the file, and then select the Enter button.
Select Options in the lower left corner, select Scan Mode, select Book, and then select Done.
Adjust any other settings in the Options list that are needed. Select Done for each setting if prompted.
Touch the right pane of the screen to preview. A Book Mode prompt screen appears.
Place the book face down on the glass, aligning it as shown on the control panel prompt. Gently lower the scanner lid.
