This document is for HP Color LaserJet Pro M154a, M154nw, M254dn, M254dw, M254nw, Color LaserJet Pro MFP M180n, M180nw, M181fw, M280nw, M281cdw, M281fdn, and M281fdw printers.
When a Toner Very Low or Cartridge is Very Low message displays on the printer control panel or the computer screen, the printer continues to print with no user action required. This is due to the default Very Low Setting being changed to Continue.
This behavior is now in alignment with the cartridge end-of-life behavior of HP monochrome LaserJet printers and MFPs. You can still continue printing until you are no longer satisfied with the print quality.
You can change the Very Low Setting for each toner cartridge from the Supply Settings menu on the printer control panel or the printer software application.
