Troubleshoot 20.xx (memory failure) and 21.xx (print failure) error messages

This document provides information about how to resolve common error messages related to memory limits and print failures. It does not contain all of the possible error codes for HP LaserJet Pro printers.
The following table lists common control panel messages and event codes for HP LaserJet printers. It also lists descriptions of the codes and the actions recommend to resolve the errors.

The printer does not have sufficient RAM to process the print job.
Turn the printer off, and on again, and then try printing the job again. If the problem persists, try using a different print driver. Download print drivers from the support website for the printer. Go to www.hp.com/go/support.
When using the PCL 6 driver, use the “optimize for raster path” setting.
Add additional memory if possible.

Memory out in copy
The printer does not have sufficient RAM to process the copy job.
Try making one copy at a time instead of multiple copies.
When making multiple copies, turn off the collate option.
Turn the printer off, and on again, and then try the job again.

Memory out in scan
The printer does not have sufficient RAM to process the scan job.
Turn the printer off, and on again, and then try the job again.
