HP Officejet Printers - Control Panel Features

This document is for HP Officejet 6812, 6815, 6820, Officejet Pro 6830, and 6835 e-All-in-One printers.
The control panel includes multiple buttons and lights to run the printer and a control panel display to select print options.

Control panel buttons and lights

Review the following to reference the printer control panel buttons and lights.

1. Wireless status light () The light indicates the status of the printer wireless connection. A solid blue light indicates that a wireless connection is established and that you can print. If the wireless feature is turned off, the wireless light is off and the Wireless Summary screen displays Wireless Off.
2. Back button () The button returns to the previous screen. The button lights up when the feature is available.
3. Help button () The button opens the Help menu for the current operation. The button lights up when the feature is available.
4. Home button () The button returns the control panel display to the Home screen, which is the screen that displays when you first turn on the printer. The button lights up when the feature is available.
5. Control panel display Touch the screen to select menu options, or scroll through the menu items.
The following list describes the buttons and lights:

Touch the control panel display to select print options from a menu. Swipe your finger across the display to scroll through the menu.

The following list describes the print options:
1. Copy () The option opens the Copy menu to select a copy type or change the copy settings.
2. Fax () The option opens a screen to send a fax or change fax settings.
3. Scan () The option opens the Scan To menu to select a destination for your scan.
4. HP Printables () The option provides a quick way to access and print information from the web such as coupons, coloring pages, puzzles, and more.
5. Photo () The option opens the Photo menu to view, print, or reprint photos.
6. Setup () The option opens the Setup menu to change preferences and use tools to perform maintenance tasks.
7. Help () The option opens the Help menu to view how-to videos, printer feature information, and tips.
8. HP ePrint icon () The option opens the Web Services Summary menu to check ePrint status details, change ePrint settings, or print a Web Services Information page.
9. Wireless Direct icon () The option opens the Wireless Direct menu to turn on or off HP wireless direct printing and display the wireless direct name and password.
10. Wireless/Ethernet icon () / () The Wireless icon opens the Wireless Summary menu to check wireless status and change wireless settings. You can print a wireless test report to help diagnose network connection issues. If there is no network connection, the Wireless icon displays by default.
11. Eco icon () The option opens the Eco menu where you can configure some of the printer's environmental features.
12. Fax status icon () The option opens status information for the Auto Answer function, fax logs, and the fax sound volume.
13. Ink icon () The option shows estimated ink levels by cartridge. The icon displays a warning symbol if the ink level is less than the minimum expected ink level.
