HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC - Removing and Replacing the PCIe Card

This document pertains only to HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC with the following case design:
Introduction
This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the PCIe card for the HP Compaq Elite 8300 Small Form Factor PC.
Minimum skill level
The end user requires no hardware-specific training to replace the defective part. The end user should have familiarity with system hardware and software requiring repair.

The replacement part number will vary depending on the PCIe card that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return", then the defective part needs to be returned to HP. Click here for more information on returning parts to HP.

  note:
For customers in countries/regions with RoHS legislation (e.g. EU, China, etc.) restricting the use of hazardous substances in electrical equipment. The use of the "Original" spare part is regulated by RoHS legislation. If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the "Modified" spare number, the "Modified" spare part must be ordered as the replacement part. If the unit contains a part that is labeled with the "Original" spare number, please order the "Original" spare number as the replacement part. In this case, either the "Original" or the "Modified" spare number may be shipped which will not affect performance or functionality of the unit.
PCIe card removal instructions

Remove the access panel.

Disconnect any cables attached to the PCIe card.
3
Pull up on the PCI retention clamp and rotate it back until fully open.
4
Lift straight up on the card to remove it from the slot.
  note:
  1. If the PCIe slot has a locking tab, push in and hold the locking tab while lifting the card.
  2. If you are not replacing the PCIe card, cover the open slot on the PCI bulkhead with a metal slot cover.

If you are installing a new PCIe card, remove the slot cover from the appropriate slot on the PCI bulkhead.

Align the connectors on the card with the slot on the system board.
3
Press down on the card until it is fully seated.
4
Rotate the PCI retention clamp down over the PCI bulkhead.
5
Connect any cables to the PCIe card.
6
Replace the access panel.
