Setting Up the Printer Hardware for HP Officejet 6600 and 6700 Premium H711n e-All-in-One Printer Series

This document is for the HP Officejet 6600 and 6700 Premium H711n e-All-in-One printers.

This document explains how to set up the physical parts of the printer. Complete these steps before you install the printer software on your computer.

HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One printer

Unpack the printer

Follow these steps to unpack the printer.

Remove the printer from the box.
Remove all tape and packing materials from the front and rear of the printer.

Place your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull forward to open the cartridge access door.

Remove all tape and packing materials from inside the printer.
Close the cartridge access door.

Check the contents of the box

The contents might vary by country/region. See the packaging for a list of items shipped in the box.

Connect the power cord

Follow these steps to connect the printer to the power source.

Connect the cord from the power adapter to the rear of the printer.
Connect the power cord to the power adapter.
Plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

note:
Your printer might not look exactly like the printer in the illustration, but the steps are the same.

Plug the power cord to the electrical outlet
Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

Install the cartridges

Place your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull forward to open the cartridge access door.

Remove the cartridges from their packaging.

note:
After you remove a cartridge from its package, install it right away to avoid damage to the ink.
Hold the cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, and then insert the cartridge into its color-coded slot.

Press the cartridge forward into the slot until it snaps into place.

Repeat these steps to install the other cartridges.
Close the cartridge access door.
Wait for the printer to align the cartridges.

Install the input and output trays

Remove the input tray extension and the output tray from their packaging.
Carefully attach the input tray extension to the main body of the tray.
Slide the round pegs on the output tray into the two slots directly above the input tray.

Slide the output tray into place on top of the input tray
Push the output tray into the printer until it snaps into place.

Load paper in the input tray

Follow these steps to load plain paper in the product.

Lift the output tray.

Slide the paper width guides out as far as possible.

Insert the paper print-side down in the tray. Push the stack of paper into the tray as far as possible. Make sure that the paper is not higher than the line marking in the tray.

caution:
Do not load paper while the product is printing. Jams or paper feed issues might occur.
Slide the paper width guides in until they touch the edge of the stack of paper.
Lower the output tray.
Pull out the tray extender, and then lift the paper catch.

Set the date and time

On the control panel, touch the Right Arrow (), and then touch Setup ().
Touch Preferences.
Touch Date and Time:, and then touch the Up and Down Arrows () to set the month, day, and year.
Touch Done, and then touch the Return Arrow () to return to the Preferences menu.

Set the language and country/region

In the Preferences menu, touch Language.
If necessary, touch the Down Arrow () to scroll to your preferred language.
Touch your preferred language, and then touch Yes to confirm your choice. The printer returns to the Preferences menu.
On the Preferences menu, touch Country/Region, and then touch your specific country/region.
Touch Yes to confirm your choice, and then touch the Home icon () to return to the main menu.

HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One printer

Unpack the printer

Follow these steps to unpack the printer.

Remove the printer from the box.
Remove all tape and packing materials from the outside of the printer.

Install the input and output trays

Remove the input tray extension and the output tray from their packaging.
Carefully attach the input tray extension to the main body of the tray.
Slide the round pegs on the output tray into the slots directly above the input tray.

Slide the output tray into place on top of the input tray
Push the output tray into the printer until it snaps into place.

Install the two-sided printing accessory (duplexer)

Follow these steps to install the duplexer.

Find the duplexer in the box.
Take the duplexer out of its packing material, and then remove any tape from the duplexer.
Turn the printer so the rear of it faces you.

Hold the duplexer by its sides with the rollers toward the printer, and then insert it into the slot in the rear of the printer.

note:
Look for the engraved arrows on the duplexer for help positioning it.

Push the duplexer into the printer until it snaps into place.

Turn the printer back around so the front faces you.

Connect the power cord

Connect the cord from the power adapter to the rear of the printer.
Connect the power cord to the power adapter.
Plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.

Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

Install the cartridges

Repeat these steps to install all the new cartridges.
Close the cartridge access door.
Wait for the printer to align the cartridges.
