HP Toner Cartridges Authentication technology is built into HP LaserJet toner cartridges to ensure that any cartridge(s) installed in the printer is a genuine HP LaserJet supply. This enables customers to avoid becoming victims of fraud or counterfeit, and have improved visibility into the status of their cartridges (new, used, or not genuine).
Original, genuine HP LaserJet Print Cartridges offer the best print quality and reliability. When purchasing HP LaserJet toner cartridges, customers can check the authenticity of a toner cartridge using either a QR code app to scan the QR code on the toner cartridge box, or go to hp.com/go/ok, type the toner cartridge serial number, and then click Verify. Error messages and Troubleshooting

For information on how to troubleshoot Cartridge Policy error messages on the control panel, use the following information as a guide:
10.0X.30 Unauthorized <color> Cartridge
The administrator has configured this printer to use only genuine HP supplies that are still under warranty. To continue printing, replace the cartridge with a genuine HP toner cartridge.
10.0X.57 Protected <color> Cartridge
An administrator has used the Cartridge Protection feature to restrict this cartridge to work in only one printer or a pre-determined fleet of printers. This cartridge can only be used in the printer or fleet of printers that initially protected it using HP Cartridge Protection. To continue printing, replace the cartridge.
10.430x, 10.431x, or Incompatible <color> supply errors (HP LaserJet Pro M452)
10.57.0X Protected <color> Cartridge
This error indicates that the cartridge can only be used in the printer that initially protected it using HP Cartridge Protection. The Cartridge Protection feature is used by administrators to restrict cartridges for use in only one printer or in an authorized fleet of printers. To continue, replace the cartridge with a new toner cartridge.
10.99.31 or Non-HP supply in use (MFP M575)
Indicates that a used supply (a re-manufactured or refilled genuine HP or non-HP product) has been installed. For more information, see 10.99.xx Event log codes for Supply messages.
10.99.34 or Used supply in use (MFP M575)
Indicates that a used supply (a re-manufactured or refilled genuine HP or non-HP product) has been installed. For more information, see 10.99.xx Event log codes for Supply messages.
10.99.40 or Genuine HP supplies installed
Indicates that a genuine HP supply is installed in the printer. Select OK.
10.99.41 or Unsupported Supply in use (MFP M575)
Indicates that the supply is for a different printer . For more information, see 10.99.xx Event log codes for Supply messages.
10.WX.YZ errors, Supply Errors, or Supply Memory Errors (HP LaserJet Pro M452)

Is my data stored on the toner cartridge?

When you use the HP toner cartridges, the printer model, cartridge model, and serial numbers are transmitted to HP to verify that a genuine HP cartridge has been installed. The data collected from the toner cartridge memory chip does not contain information that can be used to identify a customer and will not be stored on the printer cartridge.
