HP Printers - Printing with Apple AirPrint (iOS)

This document is for HP AirPrint-compatible printers.
AirPrint is a mobile printing solution included with Apple iOS v4.2 and later mobile operating systems.
Print from an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch over a wireless network to your HP printer. Most HP printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint.

Step 1: Check the printing requirements

Make sure your printer and iOS device meet the following requirements to print with AirPrint.
  • iOS 4.2 or later running on the Apple iOS device
  • An HP printer that supports AirPrint
    HP wireless printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint. For more information, go to Mobile Printing Solutions Compatible with HP Printers.
  • A connection to the printer
    Your printer and the iOS device must be on the same local network or your printer must support Wi-Fi Direct or HP wireless direct.
Try to print. If a No AirPrint printers found message displays, continue to the next step to connect the printer.

Step 2: Set up the wireless connection

The iOS device and printer must be connected through a wireless network or through Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct. If your printer is connected to your computer using a USB cable, then you must use Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct.

Step 3: Print from your iOS device

Print from any app on your iOS device that supports AirPrint.

  1. Turn the printer on or press the power button to wake it from sleep mode.
  2. Open the document, photo, email, or webpage you want to print, and then tap the Share icon or .
  3. Tap Print or the Print icon .
  4. On the Printer Options menu, tap Select Printer, and then select your printer from the list.

  5. Tap Options to change other settings. Some options, such as paper size, might not be adjustable and must be changed from the printer.
    The Options menu might not display if your printer is black ink only.

  6. Select the number of copies to print, and then tap Print.
    note:
    If you are using a Wi-Fi Direct/HP wireless direct connection, go back into Wi-Fi settings and connect your Apple iOS device to your network.
