Potential Security Impact:
Beginning in October 2007 the following HP Compaq Desktop PCs have a different default home page for Internet Explorer than systems shipped prior to that.

The default Internet Explorer home page on systems listed in the "Description" has changed. The new default home page combines convenient and customizable access to both the HP and AOL portals.
In addition, the systems will come with a co-branded AOL/HP browser toolbar pre-installed. Following are answers to some anticipated questions regarding the change:

Do I have to be a paying member of AOL to use the new homepage?
A
No. The new myAOL for HP page is free and is linked to AOL.com. The free web portal is available to everyone with a computer and Internet connection

How do I set another homepage as my default?
A
HP customers can change their default homepage through Windows' Control Panel in the Network and Internet Connections link in the tools drop down section on the IE7 browser.

What will happen to my bookmarks?
A
Bookmarks stored in your browser can be imported into the myAOL for HP page. Click on the favorites tab and import your bookmarks from there.

How do I get to my web based email?
A
From the myAOL | HP portal, you can access your aim mail, gmail, or Yahoo! mail by clicking on add content button and selecting the mail modules to add to your page.

How can I remove the AOL/HP toolbar?
A
The AOL tool bar can be reomved via the Add/Remove Programs applet. Please refer to your operating system help files for exact instructions.
