HP Designjet 4200 Scanner - Installing a Printer Driver on the Touch-Screen System

Introduction

Follow the installation steps provided below to install an HP Designjet printer driver onto the touch-screen system.
  1. Close the scanning software.
  2. From the windows desktop press Start, Settings, and then Printers.
  3. At the printers window double press Add printer.
  4. At the Add Printer Wizard screen press Next.

  5. Select Local printer, even if connecting via a network.

  6. Select LPT1 and click Next.

  7. At the Manufacturers and Printers screen select Have Disk.

  8. The install from disk screen comes up. Click Browse.

  9. Browse the C: drive and select the following path:
    • For HP Designjet 500, 800, 5000, 5500, and 100 series printers (HP-GL/2 driver): C:\Programfiles\hp\HP Designjet Driver Installer\HPGL2RAS\en\win2000
    • For HP Designjet 1000 series (HP-GL/2 driver): C:\Programfiles\hp\HP Designjet Driver Installer\HPGL2\en\win2000.
    • To install the Post-Script driver (if available), install from the driver CD, or click here to download the driver from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?locale=en_US.

  10. After selecting the appropriate path, click Open.
  11. Click OK.

  12. From this list select the correct printer, and then click Next.

  13. Leave the default printer name and click Next.

  14. Select Do not share printer and then click Next.

  15. Select No on the windows test page screen, and then select Next.

  16. Click Finish.

  17. The files will copy and install the driver.

  18. Go to the printers folder and make sure that the printer installed correctly.

  19. If the printer is connected via parallel, right-mouse click the printer icon, scroll to Properties and print a test page.

  20. If the printer is connected via USB go into Properties, Ports and select the USB port. Print a test page to confirm functionality.

TCP/IP Configuration

  1. Highlight the driver, right-mouse click and select Properties.
  2. Select the Ports tab.

  3. Click Add Port.
  4. Highlight HP Standard TCP/IP Port.
  5. Select New Port.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Type in the IP address and select Next.
    note:
    Port name is not necessary.

  8. Click Close.
  9. Select Apply and then OK.
  10. Highlight the driver, right-click and select Properties.
  11. Select the General tab print a test page.
