After entering your claim code, one of the following error messages display and you cannot continue printer setup or Instant Ink enrollment. Resetting Web Services to get a new claim code might resolve the issue.

  • Invalid Claim Code

  • Unexpected Error

  • Expired Code

  • Error 500

  • Printer code not recognized

  • Printer already claimed

Reset the Web Services connection

Reset the Web Services connection to help clear any server connection issues or errors, or when you need a new printer claim code.

Note:

Resetting Web Services removes all custom HP ePrint settings.

Find the printer claim code

After enabling Web Services, an information page prints that lists the HP ePrint email address and printer claim code.

Find the printer claim code on the information printout or on the printer control panel display. The claim code is a string of text and letters unique to your printer, typically listed underneath the ePrint email address.

If the information page does not print after enabling Web Services, use an alternative method to get the code.

  • Using the Web Services Summary menu (touchscreens only): Touch the ePrint icon on the control panel.

From the Web Services Summary screen, touch Print Info or Print to print a new information page.

If the page still does not print, find the ePrint email address on the screen, and then write down everything listed before @hpeprint.com. For some printers, this string of text and letters is the claim code. Enter this value as the claim code in the HP Smart app or HP Easy Start setup window.
