HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M725 - Removal and replacement: Fuser

This document provides the procedures to remove and replace the fuser assembly.

Mean time to repair: 5 minutes

Service level: Basic

Before performing service

Turn the printer power off.

Disconnect the power cable.

Warning:
To avoid damage to the printer, turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, and then remove the power cable before attempting to service the printer.

CF235-67921	Replacement 110V fuser assembly kit
CF235-67922	Replacement 220V fuser assembly kit

Required tools

#2 Phillips screwdriver with a magnetic tip.

After performing service

Turn the printer power on

Connect the power cable.
Use the power switch to turn the power on.

Post service test

Make sure that the printer initializes to a Ready state.

Print a configuration page to make sure that the printer is functioning correctly.

Remove the left door

Follow these steps to Remove the left door.

Remove the duplex unit or the duplex cover.
Open the left door, and then lift up on the retainer arm (callout 1) to release it from the door assembly (callout 2).

Remove the left door (1 of 2)
Pull the left side of the assembly (callout 1) away from the product, release the pin on the right side of the assembly, and then remove the door assembly.

Remove the left door (2 of 2)

Remove the duplexer or duplex cover

Follow these steps to remove the duplexer or duplex cover.

Remove the duplexer.

Note:
If the product is equipped with a duplexer, complete the following steps.
1. At the left side of the product, pull out the duplexer until it stops.
  
  Remove the duplexer (1 of 2)
2. Lift up the duplexer and slightly pull it toward you to remove it.
  
  Remove the duplexer (2 of 2)
Remove the duplexer cover.

Note:
If the product does not have a duplexer, complete the following steps.
1. On the left side of the product, place a finger in the notch (callout 1) at the bottom of the cover.
  
  Remove the duplex cover (1 of 2)
2. Pull the cover (callout 1) in the direction indicated to remove it from the product.
  
  Remove the duplex cover (2 of 2)

Remove the fuser

Follow these steps to remove the fuser.

Turn the two latches (callout 1) in the direction indicated, and then pull the fuser (callout 2) straight out to remove it from the product.

Note:
On the right side latch, you must reach behind the fuser door retainer to gain access to the latch.

Remove the fuser

Unpack the replacement assembly

Follow these steps to unpack the replacement assembly.

Dispose of the defective part.

Note:
HP recommends responsible disposal of the defective part.

Unpack the replacement part from the packaging.

CAUTION:
Some parts are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Always perform service work at an ESD-protected workstation or mat. If an ESD workstation or mat is not available, touch the sheet-metal chassis to provide a static ground before touching an ESD-sensitive assembly. Protect the ESD-sensitive assemblies by placing them in ESD pouches when they are out of the printer.

Important:
Make sure that all of the shipping materials (for example shipping tape) are removed from the replacement part prior to installation.

Note:
If the replacement part is a roller or pad, avoid touching the spongy part of it. Skin oils on the roller or pad can cause paper pickup and/or print-quality problems. HP recommends using disposable gloves when handling rollers or pads or washing your hands before touching rollers or pads.
To install an assembly, reverse the removal steps.

Note:
When applicable, special installation instructions are provided for an assembly at the end of the removal procedure. Always completely read the removal instructions and follow all special installation instructions.

Replace the fuser

Follow these steps to replace the fuser.

Push the fuser (callout 1) straight into the product, and then turn the two latches (callout 2) in the direction indicated.

Note:
On the right side latch, you must reach behind the fuser door retainer to gain access to the latch.

Replace the fuser

Replace the duplexer or duplex cover

Follow these steps to replace the duplexer or duplex cover.

Replace the duplexer.

Note:
If the product is equipped with a duplexer, complete the following step:
1. At the left side of the product, push the duplexer into the product until it stops.
  
  Replace the duplexer
Replace the duplexer cover.

Note:
If the product does not have a duplexer, complete the following step:
1. Install the cover (callout 1) in the direction indicated.
  
  Replace the duplex cover

Replace the left door

Follow these steps to replace the left door.

Attach the pin on the right side of the assembly, and then rotate the left side of the assembly (callout 1) into the product.

Replace the left door (1 of 2)
Lower the retainer arm (callout 1) onto the door assembly, and then close the left door (callout 2).

Replace the left door (2 of 2)
