HP PCs - Setting Up Kiosk Mode (Windows 10)

This document is for HP PCs with Windows 10 Education, Enterprise, or Pro.
Set a PC to kiosk mode to use the PC for a single or very limited use, for example, to browse a restaurant menu or to view a product catalog and place an order. When the PC is set to kiosk mode, the user cannot access the desktop, the Start menu, or any computer functions except the apps configured for the kiosk.
To set up kiosk mode, the PC must have Windows 10 Education, Enterprise, or Pro.
You can use several methods to set up kiosk mode.
  • Assigned access: Use assigned access to set up a kiosk that opens a single Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app above the lock screen for the selected user account. You can set up assigned access using several methods.
    • PC settings: Use PC settings to set up a basic kiosk experience, such as viewing a calendar or the weather.
    • Mobile device management (MDM): Set up assigned access using MDM to apply an MDM policy to the kiosk experience.
    • Windows PowerShell: Use Windows PowerShell to set up assigned access on multiple devices.
  • Shell Launcher: Use Shell Launcher to set up a kiosk that opens a single Classic Windows app in place of the default shell when a user signs in. Kiosks set up with Shell Launcher can run a custom app.
  • Windows Configuration Designer: Use the Provision Kiosk Devices wizard in Windows Configuration Designer to build a provisioning package that allows access to a single Classic Windows app (Education or Enterprise only) or a single Universal Windows app.
    note:
In Windows 10 version 1709, you can use the Provision Kiosk Devices wizard to set up a kiosk that allows access to multiple apps.
For more information about setting a PC to kiosk mode, go to Microsoft's Create a Kiosk Experience (in English).
