The control panel includes multiple buttons and lights to run the printer and a control panel display to select print options.

Control panel buttons and lights

Review the following to reference the printer control panel buttons and lights.

1. Control panel display
Indicates number of copies, paper errors, wireless status and signal strength, Wi-Fi Direct status, and ink levels.
2. Information button
Press this button to print a Printer Information Page. Press the button in combination with the Wireless button, the Wi-Fi Direct button, or the Web Services button to get more specific help pages tied to each of those buttons. The light indicates that you can press the Information button to get help.
3. Resume button/light
Press this button to resume a job after a disruption (for example, after loading paper or clearing a paper jam). The light indicates that the printer is in a warning or error state.
4. Cancel button
Press this button to stop the current operation.
5. Wireless button/light
Press this button to turn the printer's wireless capabilities on or off. The light indicates whether the printer is connected to a wireless network.
6. Start Copy Color button
Press this button to start a color copy job.
7. Start Copy light
Indicates the Start Copy Black or Start Copy Color buttons are ready for use.
8. Start Copy Black button
Press this button to start a black-and-white copy job.
9. Ink Alert light
Indicates low ink or ink cartridge problems.
10. Web Services button/light
Press this button to turn Web Services on or off. A solid white light indicates Web Services is ready for use. A blinking white light indicates a problem with the connection to Web Services. A blinking amber light indicates an error.
11. Wi-Fi Direct button/light
Press this button to turn Wi-Fi Direct on or off. The light indicates the on or off status of Wi-Fi Direct.

Control panel display icons

The printer control panel display has several icons that indicate functions or errors.

The following list describes the control panel display icons:
1. Number of copies icon
Shows the number of copies when you are copying documents, and alternates between the letter E and a number when the printer is in an error state.
2. Error icon
Indicates an error.
3. Paper Error icon
Indicates a paper-related error.
4. Wi-Fi Direct icon
Indicates whether Wi-Fi Direct is on or off, or is in the process of being connected.
5. Wireless icon
Indicates whether the printer is connected to the wireless network.
6. Wireless Attention icon
Indicates an error with the wireless network connection.
7. Signal Bars icon
Indicates the strength of the current wireless network connection.
8. Ink Level icons
The left ink icon shows the estimated ink level of the tri-color ink cartridge, and the right icon shows the estimated ink level of the black ink cartridge.
