HP Notebook PC - Finding the IMEI Number of the Computer Through the Command Prompt

This document describes how to find the IMEI number for your computer.
In order to activate Mobile Broadband Service, the customer needs the IMEI of the WWAN module.
Select your operating system from the following options and then follow the steps to find the IMEI number for that operating system.

Windows 7

Follow these steps on how to find the IMEI number for your Windows 7 computer.
  1. Click the Start icon, and then enter Run in the search field.
  2. Select Run from the list of results.
  3. In the Open field, enter CMD, and then press Enter.

  4. In the command prompt window, enter netsh mbn sh interface, and then press Enter.

  5. Locate the Device ID information. This is the IMEI number.

Windows 8

Follow these steps on how to find the IMEI number for your Windows 8 computer.
  1. On the Start screen, type cmd to open the Search charm, and then select CMD from the list of results.
  2. In the command prompt window, enter netsh mbn sh interface, and then press Enter.

  3. Locate the Device ID information. This is the IMEI number.

Windows 8 (ElitePad 900)

Follow these steps on how to find the IMEI number for your ElitePad 900 using Windows 8.
  1. On the Start screen, type cmd to open the Search charm, and then select CMD from the list of results.
  2. Click the Touch Keyboard icon in desktop mode to open on the on-screen keyboard.
  3. In the command prompt window, enter netsh mbn sh interface, and then press Enter.
    note:
    This command does not reveal the IMEI number if wireless button or HP Connection Manager disables the WWAN.

  4. Locate the Device ID information. This is the IMEI number.
