HP Compaq nc4200 Notebook PC - Removing and Replacing the Fan

Introduction

This document is provided to assist in removing and replacing the fan for the HP Compaq nc4200 Notebook PC.

Tools required

Torx 8 (T8) screwdriver.

Parts required

Part numbers are subject to change.
The replacement part number will vary depending on the fan that is being replaced. If a part is listed as "Yes" under "Requires Return" then the defective part needs to be returned to HP.

Fan removal

  1. Review the safety considerations before performing the steps listed below by clicking on the following link:
      caution:
    Failure to comply with the precautions could result in damage to your product or loss of data.
  2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
  3. Remove the three T8-7 mm screws that secure the fan to the base enclosure.
  4. Lift and remove the fan.

Fan replacement

  1. Place the fan into the base enclosure.
  2. Replace the three T8-7 mm screws that secure the fan to the base enclosure.
  3. Reconnect the fan cable to the system board.
